Flashback Tuesday: William Shakespeare & the Globe by Aliki

On June 29th, 1613 The Globe Theatre in London burned to the ground.   This theatre was built by Shakespeare in 1599.  It was rebuilt the next year but was closed 28 years later.   It wasn't until 1997 that a new Globe Theatre was opened on the same spot....it was rebuilt in the same style as the original.   I went there many years ago....it was a lot of fun.   I saw The Merchant of Venice...a truly memorable night.
